Orange Pi 5 Plus
The Orange Pi 5 single board computer has gained attention from developers after a successful launch. The company has announced that they will be launching several highly anticipated products in the near future. In addition, they are working on a model with improved hardware based on the Pi RK3588 SoC named Orange Pi 5 Plus. This piece of hardware has all the core strengths of the Orange Pi 5 board but with a few strong advantages in the video department. These include two HDMI outputs next to an HDMI input interface, making the product an excellent choice for DVR and electronic signage applications.
Additional exciting features
The Orange Pi team added a GPIO header with 40 pins that are color-coded. It is compatible with the pin layout of the Raspberry Pi. In the connectivity section, Orange Pi also included a pair of 2.5G Ethernet ports. The board is highly likely to be used as a compact router/gateway device and is fully compatible with OpenWrt.
Orange Pi 5 Plus (First engineering sample)
Based on the above photo provided by Orange Pi company, the upcoming board will come with a PCIe interface and is equipped with at least three USB ports. Also we noticed that there is an option to add an eMMC module via an onboard expansion socket. Also, a microphone, IR transmitter, analog audio, power and reset buttons are included.

Final notes
You should remember that all Plus 5 variants lack integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. The PCIe M.2 E-KEY socket allows you to install a 2230 module separately.
In addition, if you are not planning on using an NVMe storage card, the eMMC is also a cheaper option via an onboard socket. Orange Pi offers storage sizes ranging from 16GB to 256GB which should be enough to run OpenWRT and most Linux distributions.
