The DANIU digital Meter Measuring Tool is a multi-purpose two-in-one product that can be used as standard tape to measure distances up to 5m, but its main highlight is probably the laser diode built inside the device, making it a very diverse tool for everyday home usage. Its laser can measure distances of 30M by just pointing the laser dot at a wall or any object. The measurement is instantly shown on the device’s LCD display in a super user-friendly way.

As for power sources, this digital meter comes with an internal battery that is charged through a standard 5V – 1A Micro-USB port. Overall, we are talking about a must-have tool, which is especially handy for measuring large distances indoors as well as outdoors.

Having said that, we checked the 40M model which is currently unavailable on AliExpress, But the 30M model appearance looks exactly the same with a shorter range (-10M) currently on sale on Banggood’s official store for a super discounted price, starting from $16.99 (including free shipping) for UK based customers.

Operation Modes

Function	Information
Turn on	Press the main button for about 2 seconds to turn on the device when it is off the backlight will be automatically switched off after 15 seconds if the device is without any operation.
Measure	in the state of turning on, short press the main button one time the laser beam will be light on, then press a second time it will measure and the laser will automatically off after finished measuring.
Datum mark switch	in the state of turning on, long press the main button for about 3 seconds to switch the Datum mark, when restarting the instrument, it restores the default Datum mark.
Turn off	A long press of the main button for 5 seconds in the state of turning on to turn off the device, and the device will automatically turn off after 45 seconds if without any operation.
Settings	Long press the main button for about 5 seconds to enter the setting in the turn-off state, in the setting state, long press the main button for about 1 second to switch settings. The measurement value can be corrected within the +/-7mm range, briefly press the main button to adjust the values.

Design & Build Quality

Both are very good quality. The meter is made from plastic including upper and lower parts with coated rubber which provide extra impact resistance in case the meter falls down on the floor/ground.

Peeking on the front side of the meter, there you have a thumb lock button and the metal tape slot. Infrared (infrared) sensor alongside a laser diode.

On the right, you got a small size LCD display that displays information such as battery power level, measurement, units, and the measurement progress indicator. Also important to mention is that it also comes with a built-in backlight type function that turns on for a few seconds and automatically shuts down. The extra light is useful for viewing readings in low-light conditions, especially at night.

Testing

Short Range Test

Operating the device was simple. By just pointing the laser spot on a nearby object, like a wall, and pressing the button quickly until you get your reading.

Long-distance Range Test

Long-range measuring gets a bit more tricky. As you point to larger distances you need to follow the laser dot, which is not always visible, especially in sunny weather conditions. After 17-20 meters it is harder to point with a stable hand. The ideal conductions for long-distance measuring are most likely at night, or in the evening when the laser spot is more visible to the naked eye.

Final verdict

An awesome well builds measuring tool we defiantly recommend. It’s easy to operate and lightweight measuring 221 grams. The build quality is above average too, it’s not too bulky to carry in a small bag., Although a belt clip could have been nice to have. Bottom line, we highly recommend you!
