We must separate two terms that might confuse most users in this category. The first is the number of available servers, and the second is the total locations the user can connect to. While the VyprVPN plan doesn’t include any extra-value services bundled with their VPN plan, Ivacy includes sticky password premium software as part of their service. Sticky Password is a lovely advanced password manager that offers many features, including a different degree of security protection on both mobile and desktop platforms. Besides data encryption, you have an advanced two-factor authentication option and the ability to manage and generate complex pattern passwords. Also, an excellent option called automatic form-filling is essential to every user filling online forms.

Easy to Use
Both VPNs have well-designed apps with a nice U.I., but in this specific category, VyprVPN is a winner with a clean and straightforward U.I. In VyprVPN App, you will find a list of countries (regions) with ping information next to them specified in ms, which provides an excellent general indication about server response.

Connection Speed
Speed is essential to seek a good VPN service steaming/downloading data. If the VPN is slow in performance, it would directly impact the user experience. For this test, I installed DownTester App by Nirsoft, a free downloadable utility software for Windows-based PCs that allows users to test their internet connection by analyzing the download speed.
I set DownTester to download a Linux mint ISO image file in a total of 1.87 GB from a few geographical locations, taken from the official Linux Mint download section. After, I added all the server URLs inside the App with the following settings:
- Tested on two separate computers running Windows 10
- Download Duration: 120 seconds
- Connection Timeout: 20 seconds.

Results:
The above results are not written in stone, but they can give us a good indication of the listed server performance. Although both VPN Services offer very low up to average transfer speeds, Ivacy performance was slightly slower with few tested servers.

Encryption Protocols
Another critical factor in choosing an excellent VPN service is the level of Encryption. VyprVPN service currently offers three types of different security protocols with 256-bit Encryption. They offer OpenVPN 256-bit Encryption, IKEv2 is also expected to be available soon, and it’s the highest level called Chameleon, which uses the unmodified OpenVPN 256-bit protocol for the underlying data encryption. In the Ivacy service, you will only find the IKEv2 security protocol without any additional high-level encryption protocols.
Bypassing Netflix geo-block
VyprVPN’s unblocking service currently supports only four geographical regions: the U.S., Canada, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Ivacy VPN supports three additional geographic locations, including Japan, France, and Australia.
Netflix U.S. Content includes the most extensive catalog of movies and TV series, so most likely, you would not need additional regions unless specific content is also not allowed to be broadcast in the U.S. due to copyright restrictions. It’s always great to have a few options in case of server connection problems and even a closer geographical distance for a better and smoother streaming experience.

In the different value segments, Ivacy offers a better value in terms of software support and additional Netflix regions (Australia, France, Japan). They also have a local server located in Beijing.
The bottom line is if you are searching for a cheap VPN, you can check Ivacy’s 1-year plan for $3.50. But I think the VyprVPN plan for $3.75 is the better one of the two VPN services.
