Design

The Realme watch design is pretty standard in the shape of a square. Both genders, female and males can wear it and enjoy its nice appearance. The watch is mostly made from plastic with an upper glass display protection layer.

Watch strap

The detachable strap is also included in the product package made from TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane). Its are less flexible than a silicon strap, but we found it very comfortable.

The Good & Bad

Display

The Realme watch comes with a 1.4-inch display with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. From our impression, the quality was good and sharp. We noticed a small lower bezel reserved for the Realme brand logo that is almost not noticeable to the naked eye that actually reduces the active visible display area of the watch.

Direct sunlight Conditions

One of the most important features important in having in any smartwatch is the ability to clearly read the watch display in sunny conditions under direct sunlight. To our surprise, the Realme display didn’t disappoint and was easy to view.

Wake screen on Wrist raise (Power On gesture)

A handy feature we liked about the Realme is the normal operation mode the device enters a low power saving/ standby mode. The watch is powered again when wrist rotating or hand raising is detected, so you don’t need to use the assistance of the watch on/off power button. This feature is particularly needed for various sports activities such as running or walking when you are busy focusing on your exercise and not capable of accessing the watch power button.

Charger

Another highlight of the Realme smartwatch worth mentioning is that it’s super easy to charge through a standard USB port. There are many Chinese smartwatch brands sold worldwide, and many of them are not very user-friendly to charge. Realme charger has a round shape with magnets that position the watch’s conductive contact points precisely with the charger unit. No complicated charging solution here, a simple design that works well!

First-Time Setup

The binding of the smartwatch to the phone is done in few simple steps:

Software

The ‘Realme Link mobile app is an IoT management platform where you can easily manage and control your smart devices. It reminds Xiaomi ‘Mi Home’ App but with fewer features and devices.

Honestly speaking, we excepted more value and innovation from a $50-$60 smartwatch. The watch only supports Android OS, but we expect iOS support to launch in the near future. The mobile app UI looked clean and well organized. Realme Team added the most basic popular features, plus 14 sports modes to choose from. The most needed functions that can be found in this watch are the call reminder, watch face replacement, notifications, Get up Reminder, water drinking reminder, SpO2 (oxygen saturation), and HR monitoring.

In our tests, the 24-hour HR monitoring produced good results in measuring heart rate. The App supports real-time continuous measuring during ‘Workout‘ mode or test on-demand. You can also pick specific time intervals during the day. For example, you can measure your heart rate every 5 min or even longer periods of time every 30 min.

The Realme is above decent health/sports watch with good software. The price-value ratio is not the most amazing compared to other famous brands such as Xiaomi’s Amazfit series sold in the same price range packed with more advanced features.
